Get a bow in your hand and become a Merida, Robin Hood, Legolas or Katniss Everdeen!

White Dragon Archery are offering adventure day camps for ages 8+ throughout the school holidays. At only £35 per six-hour day, you’ll learn how to shoot a real bow and arrow with the help of expert coaches.

The day is a blend of discovering history and developing a new skill – all while having lots and lots of fun! After a short but thorough safety talk, children will hone their skills on a fun range of targets, from monsters to medieval armies and traditional targets from the sport’s centuries of history.

Once your band of adventurers has mastered the modern recurve-style bow, we’ll move on to the longbow and try some challenges, like aiming at half-hidden targets and trying a ‘clout’ style long-distance shoot.

You’ll also get to see – and try on – medieval archer’s armour and real chainmail, and find out what it’s like to shoot in each! At the end of the day, you’ll have your chance to shoot a flaming arrow with the help of your coach.

White Dragon’s staff are not only experienced archery coaches – we are experts in the sport’s history and give talks and training all over the country.

White Dragon’s facilities include an indoor range as well as a beautiful woodland and grassy outdoor ranges, so whatever the weather the camps will go ahead.

Please bring lunch, sensible outdoor shoes and weather-appropriate clothes.

The sessions run on weekdays during most school holidays, specific dates can be seen on the booking page. Parents are welcome to drop off children and return at the end of the day, but if they wish may also book alongside their child and join in the fun. Booking essential - be quick!

A review of a school holiday camp:

"Had an awesome day. Mark's laid-back teaching made me feel so much more relaxed about trying to shoot, and even though I didn't hit everything I felt a lot happier and more confident about it than back when I had formal lessons. A range of different targets, settings, and bows, plus a lunchtime talk on the history of different arrows and a sunny walk in the woods kept things interesting. My kids all loved it too (age 16, 14, & 10) and want to do it again. And of course the fire arrows at the end of the day made for an exciting finale. Thank you, Mark and Kim."
