"Longbows & flaming arrows! What a wonderful place."

Bures Dragons Archery Club

By the time you've completed a course with White Dragon Archery, you're sure to have fallen in love with archery and be looking for a club.

As luck would have it, we host one on our own archery ranges: the Bures Dragons.

In January 2013, White Dragon (then known as History Blooms) ran our first ever course in how to shoot the English Longbow. There were eight trainees on that first course on ten consecutive Wednesday evenings in the cold and draughty venue of Coggeshall Grange Barn NT. Targets were basic and equipment was shared - as were blankets during "story time" as the historical talk part of the course became affectionately known.

There proved to be an appetite for archery in Essex and Suffolk. From that first course, a club swiftly grew, made up of members who had learned their skills from us alongside experienced longbow practitioners who were attracted by the friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

Eighteen months later, we moved our venue to more suitable premises at Bakers Hall Farm near Bures, on the edge of Essex and Suffolk. Our fantastic current premises give us not only an indoor training range with workshop space and a comfy spot for a cuppa, but also a 180-yard outdoor range and a three-acre wood for field shoots.

Finally, three and a half years after that first course, we converted our small club into a fully-fledged member of the greater archery world: GB Archery Club  #2655, known as the Bures Dragons.

Join us as we continue to grow and become a force in the traditional archery world.
